The traditional large-capacity engine has been ditched for a small (1.6-litre) four-cylinder that uses the latest tech to pump out an amazing 200kW. But the traditional flip-side to so much thrust – huge petrol bills – won’t eventuate because the engine is smarter than that and really sips its premium ULP. It handles, too, in a proper hot-hatch way and you’ll be hard pressed to pick that it’s the front wheels doing the driving. Only Peugeot’s current questionable ergonomics would make most buyers think twice.
